Technology that protects the practice—and technical expertise when a matter depends on data.
Legal technology has two very different jobs: keep the firm productive and secure every day, and help attorneys make sense of technical evidence when a matter demands it. Knowtion has experience on both sides.
PROTECT
Keep attorneys, staff and client information protected.
Manage Microsoft 365, identity, endpoints, mobile devices, backups, cybersecurity and user support around the way attorneys actually work—in office, at home and on the move.
RECOVER
Recover electronic information when the data matters.
Support attorneys with data recovery and technically disciplined collection and analysis of electronic information when a device, file, account or digital trail becomes important to a matter.
EXPLAIN
Translate complex technical evidence into understandable facts.
Turn raw electronic data into clear analysis, visualizations and impartial technical explanations that attorneys, mediators, judges and other decision-makers can understand.
GROW
Turn the firm’s digital presence into a measurable business asset.
Build and manage high-performing law-firm websites, improve local and organic visibility, track qualified inquiries and connect digital activity to actual business-development outcomes.
When the facts lived inside six months of location data.
A law-firm client, McMillan and Sobel, asked Knowtion to support discovery in a child-custody matter where the child’s actual location during school days was disputed. With appropriate maternal permission, Knowtion analyzed Android location history recorded at approximately six-minute intervals.
The raw data was converted into a detailed visual scatter plot showing locations, timing and frequency. The analysis found that the child spent 80% of school days associated with paternal visits at the paternal grandparents’ home—also approximately 45 minutes from the school.
The analysis was presented at pre-trial, and the matter quickly settled in favor of the mother retaining custody.
